Corporate Governance

Austral Re uses monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure that its clients’ objectives are preserved, and also develops clear and objective internal control systems which are in line with Susep Circular nr. 249, dated 2004, and its alterations.

A high ethical standard is demanded of all employees and everyone at the company is expected to submit themselves to a rigorous Code of Conduct and Ethics, regardless of their position in the hierarchy.

The internal procedures are standardized by a number of manuals, including ‘Underwriting’, ‘Authority’, ‘Procedures’, etc. Technical Reserves are calculated and revised by actuaries based upon those methodologies recognized within the reinsurance market.

In addition to the external audits performed by an internationally recognized company, the company also submits itself to a periodical internal audit.
